Small Group Leaders Coaching Audio

Small Group Audio This   gallery is dedicated to coaching small group leaders through short audio bits that you can listen to whenever you have time. The Coaching talks should be less than 5 minutes, but they are designed to be a 15 minute exercise.

Don’t just listen to them while you’re checking your email. Listen to them and write some things down and then take 5-10 minutes and think about how what you just heard applies to you as a leader or can be applied in the life of your group. If you lead as a couple, I’d encourage you to do this together.

  1. Hey Nic,
So easy to maneuver and listen to and if they get longer, the audios are portable. Thanks. I appreciate how short and succinct your talk was this time. It was just enough to get me to focus on and pray about those THREE THINGS. Don't overwhelm me with too much "homework" please. I'm glad you're in our corner and are enthusiastic. It's contagious!

  2. Hey Nic,
I totally agree with you when it comes to meal time. That is vitally important because it is about the only time we can relsx and learn about each other's day to day lives. Of course, there is chit chat before and after small group, with our "coming and going", but that time does not allow for the longer conversations that happen at meal time. The meal time idea was NOT one of my favorites when I first joined my first small group BECAUSE I had to share myself without being able to rely on talking about the study. Talking about a study was a part of my comfort zone, but talking about myself was not. Guess what? When I started sharing MYSELF, the only thing that happened to me was that I was loved and accepted for the way I am. I feel comfortable enough to be able to humbly admit to my small group when I am failing miserably at something God wants me to do and I don't want to do it (like be nicer to my husband, some days are harder than others!)or let go of my negative attitude, or stop talking to Nic so much during worship. They very clearly know my weaknesses and strengths. They also feel like they know me well enough to "rebuke or admonish" me and I'm okay with that. I can truly say that I have and am growing not only with our Bible time, but with knowing and understanding what Jesus wanted and wants from us when it comes to community.

NOW, for some "rebuking". I see that I am the only one that has written commments on this page. We can do better than that, can't we?

  3. Thanks for the comments Scherry. The comments are supposed to be a conversation and hopefully we can get one started as time goes on.

The meal time is a critical component if you have one, and using it for personal connection is critical. most people won't jump into sharing personally, and they need that 'warm up' for several months before they can really share themselves and do so in relationship to the content of your studies. That is the final goal- for people to connect personal reflection with the content of your spiritual learning. That's real application. Otherwise the study isn't really getting talked about on the level at which people change.

  4. Great advice in Audio 3. That's often a hard thing to get going in a small group. Each time we get new people into the group, the dynamics change a little and we seem to start all over. I needed to be reminded about how important it is to provide an environment that enourages people to participate and share in a meaningful way. thanks.

  5. I've been listening to the audio recordings and I've been trying to include some of the main core values into the small group that I lead. I've found that even in the short time that I've been incorporating those values are group is growing closer together. It's kind of cool. We've been working on including more service projects and community within our small group. I plan on playing some of these audio files in between lessons. :) Thanks!!!!
